10 ways to HAPPINESS.

I'm one who strongly believes in self-awakening process, firmly believeing in inspirational messages and quotes to motivate and encourage myself.

I have this note that my srjc form teacher (also my FAVOURITE form teacher EVER :)))))) ) She loves to write notes of encouragement to us, her form class. There's one that she wrote among the many several that I always bring along with me. It's in my daily journal.
It says:

Awakening.

Be Compassionate.
Give hope in times when you feel there is none in sight.
Motivate yourself and stimulate self-improvement.
Be sensitive and tap into your own versitility.

Well, it seems that recently I've met some setbacks. and yes the Little-miss-happy-silin WAS feeling sad for awhile. But well if you know her ENOUGH, hahaha, she bounces back pretty quickly.

and what's the remedy you may ask?

I came across the 10 ways to happiness on the sunday papers (the chinese one) and coincidentally, many of the things mentioned was what I have always been DOING!
Here goes:

10 ways to HAPPINESS.

1. Do not be angry.
don't get into fights, don't quarrel. Instead, thrash it out, talk over the issue CALMLY.
(that's SO ME. I don't even remember when was the last time I got angry. HAHA! I prefer to reason things out.)

2. To share the best things that happened each day with your love ones.
(ME! I just love to share all the interesting incidents with all my love ones like almost immediately. HAHA. And for some reasons, there's always interesting things going on around me!)

3. LAUGH OUT LOUD
(HAHA! I'm easily tickled. I just laugh at the slightest silliest things. and it always feels good. Hearty laughter, it just totally brightens up my day!)

4. Do more *cough cough* with your partner.
(Well, I have nothing to contribute!! LOL)

5. Listen to your favourite songs.
(I must thank my friends for this. Si Lin is blessed with lovely friends who always share their songs with her!! This totally works wonder on me! When I'm bored, I need a chirpy and strong bass song to inject some enthusiasm in me. When I need to relax and just STONE out after too much work/studying, the soothing voices of Olivia Ong etc totally shed the burden off my shoulders. AND AND AND, movie OSTS, it reminds me of the sweet scenes from that particular movie!! )

6. Put down all your burdens before moving on.
( I believe in giving each case/problem a proper verdict. Whenever I'm being put in this kind of situation, yes I'll dwell in the sorrows for a short while. Then I'll think through and I'll always try to put myself in another angle to look at the problem, there's always something to bring away frm it. Be it a precious lesson or some positive thoughts that you have never notice before.)

7. Say the magic word: I love you!
(Haha. No need to explain too much. I always tell my love ones how much I LOVE THEM! Express my love THAT openly. hee. You have to you know, cause I don't want to regret only :) when it's too late. )

8. Give Hugs
( I once read this somewhere, that humans were created with extended hands so as to give HUGS. Give hugs to love ones, embrace a hug sincerely. That always makes me feel good. Haha. It's like an assurance, the shelter after all the storms that you've been through.)

9. Cheer someone up
( Help to brighten up someone's day! There have been a report that says that people generally feels happier when they spend $$ on others. Stop by a bookshop to get a card or note or a small little gift for your friend! WHAT are you waiting for?! SHOWER ME WITH GIFTS! hee.)

10. Occasionally, flip through your old photos.
(I do that sometimes, to look at the photos. They capture the moment you see. My happy childhood, my old house, my carefree primary school days, secondary and JC too. and also people and places that no longer exist. The only way that they truly stay is in those photos and the wonderful memories that will always be in my heart. :) )

Well, so here you have it. The 10 ways to happier days! Haha. According to me, there are actually more than 10 ways you know, I feel that all these just serves as a direction. Ultimately, it's down to the individual, YOU. How you choose to live your life each day.

I've chosen mine! :)))))))))))))))))))))

I miss my "WeWillBeFriendsForeverJustYouWaitAndSee" Friends.

It's always in moments like this.

When the cramming for exams period begins, I miss my friends. Perhaps it's always in times like this where memories of our O'level cramming sessions float into my mind. How we would always send smses to encourage each other, NOT TO GIVE UP.

My dear friends, I know we are going through the same at the moment. (although you will all end earlier than me and Yanen)

NONEtheless, let's preservere! We can do it!!

this also goes out to the the MEANIE ACCOUNTANT, jiayou! and no matter what, just know that I'll be here k. :)

Stop blasting your music on HANDPHONES.

Ok. It's 2.47am now according to my lappie clock and I can't SLEEP.

Must be the late night sleeping from the last few nights, hence the attempt to get some beauty sleep tonight was unsuccessful.

This puts me in an irritated MOOD hence the best opportunity now to share with my readers this VERY ISSUE that I'm totally irritated with recently.

You see, I'm sensitive to all sounds perhaps due to the fact that I used to learn music hence the sensitivity. I get annoyed by repetitive sounds (water dropping, clipping on pens, hammering etc) and noise pollution (reads: music blasting from handphone).

I'm not one who have temper but these are one of the few things that IRRITATES me.

I treasure personal space, hence it gets on my nerves when people invade that privacy of mine. On normal circumstances, I put up with it. But recently, I see a rising trend of people blasting music from their handphones.

URHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
This is not right. Especially when it's on public transports like buses. I don't understand the rational behind blasting your music like THAT. Perhaps you have a big heart and wish to share your unique taste of music with the rest of the passengers abroad - the problem is, most handphones doesn't come with good speakers. Hence the music that comes out normally transforms into unaudible NOISE. It's bad quality and disrupts my train of thoughts. (you see, I go deep into thinking whenever I'm in the bus).

The same goes for those that plays TECHNO. I can literally faint infront of you. You like it and that's fine with me, but punishing me to listen with you is WRONG of you. and and and. Haven't they heard of this invention called earphones?! Please! Go get earphone and blast it to yourself.

Perhaps, they should have signs in places with public transport to band people from blasting music from their handphones.

ok. Now I feel better.

The ART of touch screen phones.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I've finally changed my phone to Samsung F480. (after getting stuck to the "smartphone" for gazillion yearsssssssss!) It's a touch screen phone, something that I have been eyeing since the moment it came out. This is definitely IDIOT PROOF. haha

Well, since I've started using the phone (which is from yesterday onwards), I have actually lin3wu4 some life philosophy frm it. My touch screen, it has to be handled with the utmost care, TLC lest i leave scratches or markes and I have to be PATIENT. yes this is the KEYWORD.

I was never a patient girl, when I think of something I would get it done straightaway. There's only THAT few things that can capture my attention for a long span of period. (longer then 5mins is considered record breakingggg.) HAHA. First is my baby- piano, I can sit infront my piano for HOURS. Just to honor my skill or make sure that I perfect that piece. Second, its my CURRENT PHONE. Oh gosh, I realised I became so patient now! Do it gently, with much care less it hangs or smth. HAHAHA.

This is pretty interesting to me.

2nd random thought of the day:

While shoving the coins into my wallet, I accidently saw the year that the coin was made. 1985. WOW. I have seen even coins made earlier than this. The point is, it gets me wondering, how many pair of hands have these coins came through before it reaches me. It could be someone REAL famous like LKY or some pop star or some prison convicts or jailbird etc. Hee. Which is probably why, $$ is considered the most dirties things. Literally DIRTY, you can never imagine the amout of germs that's being passed on to the next person handling the $$.

haha but nonetheless, I think of the stories that came with the coins. The many small nitty gritty things that happened that revolves around the coins.

Perhaps 10years down the road, this coin may eventually come back to me.
'What goes around, comes around." :)

P.s:
WHEEE! I'm going to Singapore ARts Museum(SAM) tomorrow! For the exhibition of the Kangxi emperor, his belongings, scriptures that he wrote personally will all be up for showcase. I NEED to catch it!!

ok. Off to lalaland. Need to MUG.

Mr J.

Oh my OH MY!!

I was at Jason Mraz's concert last night. It was awesome. BEYOND WORDSSSS.

It's different from the other concerts, live performances that I've seen. You see, his band has been with him for years so there's this rapport and connection between them. They know exactly what Jason is doing and how to go along with him.

His concert is OH-SO-FUN!!
It lasted for nearly 2 hours, there's not a single milisecond that I feel like dozing off. (coz I usually will, even in my favourite Phamtom of the OPERA.) I am so glad that he sang most of my favouritessssss. He engages with the audience, he plans suprises here and there. He could have just STAND THERE and sing you know. But there was this unexpected surprise element in his performance. Like his 3-botak-man trumpet group, one second they were on the stage, the next they are somewhere in the audience! Or Jason's wonderful voice, he can do miracles with ITTTTT. Range from real high to real low tones, and most of all, its all pitch perfect when he sings. Just like what we hear from his recordings, just that it's LIVE. It's not the same you know, hearing it live, experiencing it face-to-FACE.
I like the bahamas-beach-echo-african feeel in the way he and his band sings. HAHA. I have no idea what kind of style is this. Just that it reminds me of the white sand beaches, water thats blue in color, everyone in white with nice and beautiful glass beach houses and I'll be sitting on one of those pool chairs sipping my favourite (Mojito). YUP. That kind of feeling.
It's sincere too. How he sings it truthfully( HAHA. Familiar ar.). And the very reason that I support him, all his songs and acts are base on one influence: LOVE. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
It's seriously not enough. I need MORE OF Mr JASON MRAZ!
sidenote:
I was there with tham and her two friends. Our sector was not as spontaneous, but who cares, we did enjoyed! Especially Tham, she went berserk when Mr J was taking Polaroid pictures. Haha!
Well it started raining cats and dogs after the concert. We were supposed to look for the right bustop to head home, somewhere along the way, we heard people screaming. Being the curious us, we rushed over hoping to get a glimpse of Mr J! and oh my oh my.
HE didn't APPEAR. I'm dots. I haven't been doing this 'star' chasing thing for agesssss. HAHA. I can't believe it, that I was trying to squeeze with a few other young girls trying to catch a glimpse of Mr J.
Nonetheless it was FUN. Left the concert as a really satisfied girl. Hee. I saw my unimate Spencer there too. Haha. Small world.
Lastly,
I'm here to announce: for the next two weeks, Jason Mraz's songs will be on REPLAY on my list.
Changing hp soon. WHEEE! What shall I get?

Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Just a reminder before I really sleep.

8 Academy awards out of 10 NOMINATIONS.

Honey, we are talking about 10 nomnations!

That's 80% of success rate.

To top it all, with NO FAMOUS ACTORS & ACTRESS. Two of the kids really lives in the slums, slums that are even worse than what we saw in the movie.

I like the realistic-ness of the movie, how it's organised in a way that it's easy for us to follow. The love that Jamal have for Latika despite the things that happened and the lapse of time. (not to mention Jamal is pretty cute too. Big eyes and thick eye brows. HAH)

GO WATCH THIS if you haven't!

P.s WOOHOO! 08 and 09 have been good so far. Watched many quality movies: Dark Knight, curious case of Benjamin Buttons, The other end of the line & Slumdog millionaire.

I still want to watch Marley and me + He's just not that into you! Any takers? :P

love,

FJJ

Updates!!

WOOHOO. My mock papers will come to an end today, at 5.15pm.

After this, is another round of bia-ing, full blast-not-knowing-and-nonchalent-to what's-going-on-with-the-world kind of mugging. I kind of like this process, of focusing 200% on my revision, JUST THE REVISION and nothing else. It feels good when I put in lots of effort into what I've decided to do and REAP positive outcomes from it.

Food and retail therapy is working WONDERS on me. Freshly made mango cheesecake at FOOD FOR THOUGH just makes Si Lin a HAPPY GIRL. Buying random stuff on and off. URH! Need to control. I have a weak spot for fancy stickers, files with nice prints, basically all fancy stationaries and BAGS. (for the record, I have 3 filled to the brim big boxes(courtesy of ikea) of BAGSssss)

I WANT TO TRAVEL. Recently this thought just gets louder and louder and LOUDER. I have friends leaving town.. Jon going to the states and my dear best friend michelle aka ah neh is going USA in AUG for a year. I want to explore, i want to visit those lovely ancient historical sitessssss. Which is why, I made a decision.

LALALLAA. If it's SUCCESSFUL, I'll let you guys know!!

ok to all my dearest friends who are having exams or going to:

JIAYOU JIAYOU! Kambatte! ANjaANja FIGHTING!

ok. slipping into lala land.

FJJ

Make a better place.

I heard the song ABC by the Jackson 5 yesterday.

"ABC.... easy as 123.... "

Ha. this song just get stuck in my head. Well being the curious me, I went to do some research on it. On jackson 5. Of the 9 children in the jackson family, 5 of the brothers formed the Jackson 5 with Michael Jackson being the youngest. I didn't know THAT American Idol's Randy Jackson is also part of the jackson family!

Michael is the 7th child, Randy the 8th and Janet Jackson the youngest of the 9. WOW WOW WOW. The music genes DO RUN in the family huh. Well back to the song, MJ's voice is AWESOME. That strong blues soul vibe even at such young age. It just totally blew me off. I wikepedia-ed on him. It's sad you know, the things that he have been through. It's like when you are in the limelight, every action that you do gets manified or analysed. BOOOO. Well I choose to focus on his good things, ( despite his ever distorted looks that goes worse by the day) his songs, especially Heal the world. I always cry when I hear this one. Haha. and the CLASSICS: Billie Jean, Black or White, The way you make me feel, Jam, Do you Remember etcetc.

Perhaps like what he says, in a world full of negative pessimistic thoughts and influences, We need to take a little space to make a better place.

Lyrics for Heal the world:

There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow.
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow.
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place.

Chorus:Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for You and for me.

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel
You are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we'll cry happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place.

Chorus:(3x)
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me.
There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me.
Heal the world we live in

You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
